A commonly asked question is where are the best spots to SUP in Australia? Well ask no more as we have taken the liberty of hunting down, and shortlisting some of our favorite stretches of water in Australia.

Grange- Adelaide, South Australia

While there are many great spots along the Adelaide metropolitan beaches for calm cruising, Grange has made the list for us. Being only 15 minutes from the Adelaide CBD, it is very accessible and has a great beach town vibe. Also, if you are still undecided about getting a board, pop in and see Karen at Grange SUP Hire. She has plenty of Ripple Boards for you to hire before you make the right decision and purchase one of your very own!

Geelong- Victoria

The calm waters Eastern Beach, Barwon Heads and Ocean Grove are teaming with SUP boarders and the localized bodies of water lead to a great family SUPing experience.

Rose Bay- Sydney, New South Wales

There are plenty of bays around the Harbor that are great for SUP boarding as they are less congested then the popular beaches of Sydney. The bays also make a great spot for honing your SUP riding skills, before taking on the surf at Bondi or Manley.

Middleton- South Australia

Middleton is South Australia’s south coast surfing community. With sets rolling in from 3 foot right up to 12 foot, this makes a great spot for chasing waves that have a long ride time, and aren’t too aggressive.

Byron Bay- New South Wales

Who doesn’t love Byron Bay? Besides the relaxed vibe of the town, there are also plenty of stretches of water, and also an estuary for cruising among the vibrant scenery. You can even stop in and say G’Day to Dom, the local SUP expert.

Murray River- South Australia

Why keep SUPing to the oceans when we have one of the greatest rivers in the world. The Murray River is a huge stretch of water with the best places laying in South Australia’ Riverland region. Mannum, Waikerie and Loxton would be the pick, but there are far too many great spots to name. Extensive stretches of fresh water will have you paddling for days- literally-.

Four Mile Beach- Queensland

Close to Port Douglas, Four Mile Beach has minimal development and a real picturesque feel to it. The beach leads to Island Point’s reefs and has an amazing mangrove covering at the mouth of the Mowbray River. If you want to escape civilization and be one with your board, then 4 Mile Beach is for you.
